• Feb. 13 (Saturday) at 7 p.m. will be a special movie night plus Havdalah service. The film to be shown is "Crossing Delancey." Members and non-mebers are invited to attend. The showing is free to all, and refreshments will be served. Please contact Beth Edwards-Boyer at 335-2685 for more information.
• Feb. 19 (Friday) — services at 6:45 p.m., and at 7:30 p.m., Dr. Samuel Hoff, head of the Dover Human Relations Council and a professor at Delaware State University, will address the congregation about "The State of Hate — In the First State." All are welcome.
(1) How do the state of Delaware and Kent County compare with the rest of the country for hate crimes?
(2) When you feel discriminated against in housing, employment and/or services, what are your options under the law?
(3) Are apologies for past misdeeds, such as slavery or the Holocaust that happened in the past, needed, or are they a waste of time?
These and other question will be addressed by Dr. Samuel Hoff, of the Dover Human Rights Commission, on Friday Night, February 19, 2010. While religious services start at 6:45, those who wish only to hear Dr. Hoff are also invited, and his presentation begins at 7:30. Congregation Beth Sholom is located at the corner of Queen Street and Clara Street in Dover. Congregation members and the general public are all invited to this free community presentation. Refreshments will be served after Dr. Hoff’s important presentation.
