Rehoboth Beach Film Society and OVATIONS Restaurant & Lounge co-present Cinema Cabaret, a dining and film series. The November 6 event will feature “Pieces of April”. Enjoy a relish tray appetizer, a choice of turkey & stuffing with gravy or Tofu Napoleon, served with carrots in sweet ginger butter, biscuits, with a dessert of mini apple-pecan pastries, and a choice of coffee, tea, or soda. Serving begins at 6:30 PM, and the film screening begins after desserts are served.
“Pieces of April” stars Katie Holmes, Oliver Platt, and Patricia Clarkson as members of a family gathering together for a tension and chaos-filled holiday meal. Trying to make amends for her past as the ultimate problem child, April Burns (Holmes) has offered to host an elaborate, classic Thanksgiving dinner for her suburban clan in her grubby lower East Side apartment. But her efforts to create an unforgettable feast go awry when her oven breaks down. While her weary family makes its way to the city, April scrambles to find a way to pull off the perfect meal and the perfect memory. She turns to her neighbors for help, resulting in an argument with an eccentric neighbor, a dismembered turkey that requires a fake leg made of pastry, and the formation of new friendships, which help her reach a better understanding of the meaning of the holiday, and of the value of family. [2003, Runtime: 80 min., Rated: PG-13]
