propwash... perhaps others might take the things you post seriously if you weren't hiding behind a screen name with a (quite frankly) offensive picture (as much as I disagreed with GW Bush, I thought it was just as offensive when he was equated to Hitler).
Not all of us think that we should be in fear of our government or its officials, and if we should be, then WE as a people are the ones to blame for allowing the government to get in that position.
Seems no matter who we elect, there will always be some group that finds that person to be equivalent to Hitler or Stalin or some other atrocious monster.
Democracy works, but the problem is that people need to be involved and not just sit back and allow those elected to sieze more power or priviledge than they are supposed to have. Which seems to be the main complaint that goes around, no matter what level of government we're talking about.
Liberal or Conservative, it doesn't matter... the words of the Declaration of Independence don't carry much ambiguity for me... "That to secure these rights (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness), Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed".Last edited on Wed Nov 25th, 2009 05:04 pm by slattery4harrington4
