I think there is a Patriot Guard group here. When that one "church" group was protesting gays in the military, the Patriot Guard attended funerals for our local fallen heros to keep them from interfering with the services. You might want to contact one of the Delaware Harley dealerships to find out. We have one in Seaford and one in Smyrna.
I enjoyed your nostalgic memories about Milford. I was never followed around in Western Auto but remember going into Woolworths and Milford Hardware...just looking around...and had the same experience!

Well, if you ever see a blue Honda Shadow (motorcycle) with a Patriot Guard Rider sticker on the back of the back rest (some times called a SISSY BAR), with Virginia plates riding around Milford, honk and wave. That will be me. I'm looking to make a trip this spring 'up home' to see my 3 sisters and one of my brothers (other brother lives in Florida). Also, if the chance comes and there is a PGR mission up there, I'm going to try to do my darndest to ride and stand with my Delaware PGR brothers and sisters.

The word I got was from someone who's cousin worked there and they were called in to a meeting when they were told of the roof being replaced and they would be
Closed for 5 to 6 weeks
As for me they could close down forever for all I care.
Now the people who shop there will have to go to Dover or somewhere else.
Isn't Milford great one store closes up and we all have to go to another city to Shop

See I knew there was the chance the wrong person would assume I was directing my comments towards him. I only wish the real culprit world step forward and see himself for the overbearing individual he is. I suppose I might as well wish in one hand and **** in the other.

We all know it's me you're talking about, I have no problem stepping up to the plate an answering your post. I also have no problem saying what I post in here to your face or anyone elses, that's the difference between you and me.
I have been repeatedly accused of being a former forum member who was banned, just as blusemann8 was also accused of being the former member. Bluesmann8 happens to be Mike Elzey which he openly admitted repeatedly in this forum. Now if you have lived here for 50 years as you claim you obviously know the Elzey family. The banned member (who happens to be a friend of mine and a number of other newszap forum members outside of the forum) personal information was plastered all over these forums, by the same forum members whom you now defend. I recall you getting all worked up when I said I knew who you were because I was told by some people I know personally within the city work force.
Whether you like it or not as an American citizen I have the right to comment on government officials just as you commented about Jack Peterman, and other government officials yourself. You would be very surprised what I do indeed know about this community going back a heck of a lot further than the 50 years you have lived in this community. I could care less if anyone within the city pays attention to me personally, what I do care about is the community in which I live and how what the city has done to our community effects me and the other 185 property owners within our community. While the city turns a blind eye to our concerns as a community there is nothing more then they would like to do then get Shawnee Acres annexed into the city can you say cha-ching$$$$$$$$$ in instant much needed revenie for the city. You think you know so much about me, and my beliefs. Tell me and everyone else why as part of the extension of the sewer/water across RT1 it was NEVER publicly disclosed that the roads within Shawnee Acres would be getting dug up again, due to the fact larger mains are needed to handle the increased flow, and that the city owned pump station within Shawnee Acres would be nearly tripling in size (let me remind you we are not an annexed community with the city). There are homeowners in Shawnee Acres who have lived in Milford longer than you and quite a few who were born right in Milford's hospital. If you think they are going to stand for the city ramming another project down their throats then you are sadly mistaken. Personally I have no use for backroom deals, false promises repeatedly made in city meetings to correct problems that have been created, that are still unresolved, and city officials who worry more about personal friendships than what is right for Milford as a whole. I have a problem when a city official promises to get back to the President of our homeowners association and 12 1/2 weeks have passed since our association president addressed the Mayor and City council and there has not been any contact from any city official with any member of our executive board. I have a problem with a city official who states behind closed doors if we as a community annexed with the city all the problems would be corrected that borders on extortion. Hurtful...please if some politicians skin is that thin they have no business in politics. I have never once commented on any city officials personal life, or worth as human beings. I do however have every right to comment on their performance in the capacity as an elected or appointed official. That right is protected under teh 1st Amendment. Slanderous.... sorry I've never spoken a slanderous word about any political figure in Milford, nor have I written any libelous or near libelous statements either. I'm not an elected official in any capacity within the city, nor am I employed by the city or any other governmental agency. My private life is not subject to scrutiny by you or anyone else just like yours isn't or any other private citizen who is a law abiding member of society. What I may or may not disclose about my life is my right and doesn't open it up for baseless unsubstantiated allegations. First blood ? Sorry first blood was drawn when the city shoved the sewer/water project down the throats of the homowners in Shawnee Acres years ago without any regard for any of the homeowners including a number of well known families who are employed by the city and a few who serve on the fire department. If what you want for our city is 8-16 homes per acre, you are in the minority of residents who think that is good for Milford. Your policy apparently is agree with everything, don't rock the boat and even if an elected official does anything wrong as long as they have lived here longer than you or contribute to the community they are beyond reproach. Nice stance that way you can never be blamed for any wrong doing or bad decision making.

I adapt means kissing peoples posteriors or allowing people to make false accusations based on some ignorant bigoted opinion, that isn't ever going to happen. If that is how you choose to live your life that is your choice, I don't pass judgement on you, afford me the same respect. I served my country I pay my taxes and I contribute to my community and others. That's more than can be said for many people who like to do nothing but criticize and act like jerks in this forum. OldeSalt, like myself, you moved here and love the area. With your service to this country, you can d**n well consider yourself a homeboy no matter where you lay your head. I have always understood that there are certain people, and even whole families who had dedicated their lives to making Milford a better place. They, I'm sure, had different motives for the risks they took in building businesses, and getting involved in building a town through civic service and personal sacrifice. I have never cared if they expected a little respect for their work and efforts, and I didn't even begrudge them the money they made by taking risks in building those businesses, or the little bit of power and influence their civic or political efforts gained them. My mother, like yours I imagine, taught me the evil of envy, and the only thing that makes one man better than another man is his character. I hold no envy for the folks who made Milford what it is today, I don't find it necessary to belittle their accomplishments or accuse them of being all-powerful thugs with their foot on the throats of hardworking and honest people. And since I have no problem with being a "transplant", after fifty years of living here, I'll just make this observation. If the "highfalutin" folks built a boat and let me climb aboard when I wanted to get out of the water, I'd take an oar and thank them even if they acted like they expected my gratitude. Now the time would come when I thought I should have a say as to where we were headed, because I had been rowing the boat, but I would not start giving directions to the boat builders until my clothes had at least dried out. Oh yeah, that would make me a "know it all". I also wouldn't immediately accuse the boat builders of stealing the boat.

Well, I reckon I'm a transplant. I moved to Milford in January of 1955 when I was in the 2nd grade (my 4th school since September of '54). I graduated in '65 and have only been 'up home' a few times a year when I was in the states (spent 8 years overseas). I was born in northern Michigan, but when folks ask where I'm from....Milford is my HOME. I have told my wife if something happens to her, I'm outta Va Beach and going 'home', to Milford. I've been as far east as Pakistan, as far west as Thailand, as far north as Nova Scotia, and as far south as Antarctica. I've been stationed in 3 countries, and visited over 30 (some more than once). But when it comes down to it, I'm still a Milfordian. At one time folks that knew me thought I was dead because someone over in Harrington with the same name died (older than me). When I finally made my 30th reunion, I think I shocked a few people. I didn't make my 5th (in Japan), my 10th (in Sardinia), or my 20th (in Israel). So, I guess folks did think I was dead. Yup, my 'roots' are in Milford and I'm still a 'small town boy'.

In comparision to other grocery stores many of the common name brand items are cheaper at WalMarts and for families with children that is important. WalMart also has a larger variety of brands to choose from. As far as meats or produce personally we don't buy any there. Same stores are here that were here 3 years ago, not much has changed. After seeing some of the posts about WAL-MART I was beginning to think the other supermarkets had closed up. It's been about 3 years since I've been 'up home' so I thought WAL-MART was the only one in town. I can see it where my mother-in-law lives in S.W. Missouri up in the Ozarks because there's only one small supermarket IN town and WAL-MART just outside of town. It just seemed some of the folks on here were upset that they couldn't buy groceries at WAL-MART.
Don (ex-Milfordian...or is being a Milfordian like being a U.S. Marine....once a Marine always a Marine and once a Milfordian, ALWAYS a Milfordian? )

why is it that some thinks a child doing, that kind of thing is funny/cute?
I was at "wallyworld" one day and there was a kid no older then 5 or 6, goin' around with their middle finger up, sayin' to people F-you B!t(h, and the adults with them, thought that it was funny, that the child was sayin' those things.

I have the legal right to carry a gun, and I do so when working in the capacity of my job. I only carry the badge I'm legally authorized to carry, as a Fugitive Recovery Agent. Obviously you have a problem or issues with Law Enforcement Officers, that's your problem not mine.
I bet he dresses like dog the bounty hunter too.

You don't have a clue whether I'm one or not.
